• All roles in this production will be cast with 18+ actors, with the exception of three roles: Teen Fiona (must present as age 16), Young Fiona (aged 8-12), and Young Shrek (aged 8-12). If interested in one of these roles, please see the different requirements for these three roles below.

Sunday, September 7 and Monday, September 8; Callback: September 10

• At 6:00 PM on Sunday and Monday, there will be a tap audition for anyone auditioning for the following roles:
  • Fiona
  • Pied Piper
  • Tapping Rats
• Starting at 6:30 PM, we will have scheduled auditions, and hope to have everyone in and out in an hour.
• Callbacks will be scheduled with individual actors who we need to see again. Further information will be given at the time of the call.

• If you’ve never been to FCT before, the theatre is physically located on Vanguard Place...there is a small parking lot in front of the building and a larger parking lot just beyond it, or you may park in the grass on the edge of the road.

Dancing and Singing

• Please be prepared to dance first in a group, and then sing a prepared song.
• Readings will not occur until callbacks.

Music selections will be posted on the FCT website in early August. 

• Auditioning for a Main Character? (see List of Roles below) Please prepare music from Shrek the Musical sung by that specific character. If you are auditioning for more than one role, please be prepared to sing one selection of your choosing; if time allows, we may ask you to sing a second selection.
• Auditioning for an Ensemble Character? (see List of Roles below) Please prepare a song of your choosing. This can be from our list of selections, or you may bring 16-32 bars of another song you have prepared.
• NOTE: Those who are called back MUST sing from the show, so it’s best to familiarize yourself with the music of the show.

• Singing and Dancing auditions will be scheduled in groups of 8-12. Your group will be on stage together for the entire audition, but you won’t have to see anyone other than the directors while you’re singing.

Yes.

• There will be a general musical theatre dance audition for everyone, even those who have also done the tap audition. You do NOT have to have any dance experience to audition for this show, although some roles will be featured dancers.
• Our choreographer will teach the dance to a small group of people, you will rehearse it for a short time, and then you will perform it for the directors.
• BUT if you have a disability that prevents you from dancing, please contact the director directly before auditions to discuss other options.

Comfortable clothing.

• Please wear something that you are comfortable moving/dancing in.
• If you are auditioning for a tap role, please bring tap shoes or hard-soled shoes to the tap audition.
• If you are auditioning for any other role, please wear closed-toed shoes that you are comfortable dancing in. Jazz Shoes or sneakers are great.

Please do not come to both nights of auditions.

A tentative rehearsal schedule will be posted on the FCT website.

• Most rehearsals will be held Monday through Thursday from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM. There will be some Sunday evening rehearsals.
• The rehearsal schedule will look something like this:
  • Music: September 15 – September 30
  • Add Choreography: October 1 – October 16
  • Add Blocking: October 13 – October 23
  • Working Rehearsals: October 27 – November 25
  • Tech Week: December 30 – December 4

Performances: December 5-7 and 12-14

Because this is a volunteer organization, and we understand that we all have many things going on in our lives, there is not a strict attendance policy for rehearsals. However, I STRONGLY request that cast members attend all/most rehearsals as scheduled, and that deadlines for being off music/off book are met. This may mean working to learn music/blocking/choreo on your own time. We are willing to flex some rehearsals as needed. Unexcused absences, however, will not be tolerated, to protect the integrity of our production. We also request that ALL cast members be in attendance during the last two weeks of the run, from November 22 through December 4, and ALL performances are MANDATORY.

No. If you don’t get a call to come back on Wednesday, you’re still in the casting pool until you hear differently from us!  All those who audition will receive a call or an email no later than the Thursday evening after auditions. 

Honesty is the best policy. If you don’t want a role other than the one you are auditioning for, let us know before you audition. We want everyone to have a GREAT time on this show, which means we really want you to want to be there!
