About the Show

Clue is a one-act comedic play based on the board game and 1985 movie "Clue." Set in 1954 at Boddy Manor near Washington D.C., six guests arrive only to discover they are suspects in a murder that hasn't happened yet. When the murder occurs, chaos ensues as they, along with the butler and maid, attempt to discover who dunnit—all while hiding from the police. The play features multiple endings and is very similar to the movie.

A Note from the Director

Clue is an ensemble piece with musical timing. All characters are on stage almost the entire show, with no intermission. Actors must have great comedic timing, musical instincts, and some physical prowess (quick movement, running, standing/sitting, and physical comedy). Smaller roles may be doubled or serve as crew onstage. Watching the movie is encouraged!

Frequently asked questions

Age Requirement-

All roles are 18+ – there are no other age expectations or requirements of characters. You must be 18 by the day of auditions in order to audition for Clue.

February 22nd and 23rd, 2026, 6:30PM

Fremont Community Theatre

1551 Dickinson Street

Fremont, OH 43420

There may be callbacks February 24th, location TBD, and you will be contacted if you are needed for callbacks. If you are not contacted it does not mean you are not cast.

Main characters will be asked to choose one memorized monologue to perform from the audition packet. We will then have everyone do cold readings from the script in a group, as well as do some timing, physical comedy, and music exercises.

Please choose one monologue of your preferred character or one that you enjoy – but you may list as many characters as you like on your audition sheet and we will try to allow you to read for as many characters as time allows.

That will depend on how many people show up, but please anticipate being there 2+ hours. If you need to leave early or arrive late, please notify the director so we can make plans to accommodate you.

You do not need to attend both days in order to be cast – but you are welcome to attend both days. Day 2 we will allow new auditionees to perform/read before seeing repeats but everyone will have the opportunity to read again.

Please dress comfortably with shoes you can move in.

Bring something to help you remember potential conflicts during the rehearsal time period, water, a change of shoes or clothes if coming from work, and anything else needed to make you comfortable. A headshot and resume is welcome but not necessary.

The workshop is designed for you to meet the director and ask questions. The director will talk about the vision for the show, the characters, and what they are looking for in a cast. We will go through an example of the timing, physical comedy, and music exercises that you’ll experience during auditions. If timing permits you may have a chance to read a monologue and get feedback. We want you to have your questions answered, feel comfortable at the theater, and be ready for your audition.

Yes – auditioning is an important part of casting a show, even for the smallest roles. If any of the requirements concern you, we encourage you to contact the director or attend the workshop to address any concerns before auditions. If you only want a smaller role in the “Others” list, you do not need to perform a memorized monologue but we will have you read from the script. If you would prefer not to audition but still want to be involved, there are so many other people needed behind the scenes to make Clue happen and we would love to have you on our team. Contact the director to ask how you can be involved.

Absolutely, we would love to have you!

Every main character will have an understudy, taken from our Other Characters if possible. You will have the opportunity in the audition to note if you are willing to accept other roles/understudy parts, etc.

An example rehearsal schedule will be shown at the workshop and auditions. Typically, FCT shows rehearsal Sunday – Thursday in the evenings, however we will be creating the schedule based on the final cast availability. Rehearsals are set to begin March 23rd, but we will be meeting a coupe times prior to that for readthroughs and line/character work. Actors will be requested to be offbook (or close) prior to rehearsal startup. Clue is a complex, fast paced show with a 7-week schedule, so you are encouraged to clear your schedule as much as possible for rehearsals. Availability (other than participation in another FCT show) may impact casting decisions – but do not let that stop you from auditioning as there are many factors to consider!

Regardless of if callbacks occur or not, you will be contacted by phone or text by February 26th. The cast list will then be posted on our website and social media pages. If you are not cast or choose not to accept an offered role, we encourage you to participate in another way or to come back for other shows!
